Building JB - Roof and Window Repairs - Waurn Ponds
Starts 06/11/2023, finishes 30/01/2024Two projects - repairing the glass ceiling in the atrium area and window replacement on Level 3 - are to take place concurrently in Building JB, Waurn Ponds Campus, from Monday 6 November to Tuesday 30 January 2024.
There are several impacts associated with these works as outlined below:
Access changes
- No access to the internal, central stairwell in Building JB from Saturday 25 November to Tuesday 28 November. Wayfinding signage will be in place and alternative stairwells/lifts should be used.
- On two days - Monday 20 November and Thursday 7 December - a crane will be positioned in the Alfred Deakin Drive vehicle loop, adjacent to Building JB. On these days:
-No street access from the Alfred Deakin Drive loop into Building JB spaces with street fronts on Level 2, except for the Medical Centre and the IA Lecture Theatre (IA1.006). All other spaces will need to utilise internal access.
-The bus route will be altered to drop off across from Building DA (KD Stewart Centre)/Car Park 4, instead of the JB stop.  - Between 6 November and 23 January, there will be some access implications for staff with workspaces close to the windows on Level 3 of Building JB. This section of workspace will be closed and staff will be required to work elsewhere.
Noise
- Noise in varying levels is to be expected between Monday 6 November and Tuesday 30 January 2024. Works such as scaffolding installation and demolition will generate high noise in the work zones and surrounding areas. Staff may prefer to work from an alternate on-campus workspace, such as the Drop in/Drop Out space in Building KC.
Accessible and Loading Zone parking on crane days
On the two crane days - Monday 20 November and Thursday 7 December - when the Alfred Deakin Drive vehicle loop will be closed, please utilise:
- Loading Zones: Adjacent to Building DA on Alfred Deakin Drive, just before the vehicle loop.
- Accessible parking spaces: Car Park 2, behind Building JC (The Library) or Car Park 4, next to Building DA.
