Refurbishment project - Stage 2 - Building B - Burwood
Starts 16/06/2025, finishes 27/02/2026We are improving teaching and learning spaces across multiple levels in Building B. These upgrades will ensure spaces are inclusive and supportive of functional, welcoming, and collaborative learning environments that foster outstanding teaching, learning, and student experiences, and contribute to our carbon reduction goals.
The project will be delivered in two stages to minimise disruption to teaching and learning activities and timetabling. Stage 1 has been completed mid-June and Stage 2 is posed to commence end-June, with expected completion early-2026.
Project inclusions:
- Increase in collaborative teaching and informal learning spaces to cater to different student needs and a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) initiative.
- Decant activities to relocate affected areas either permanently into a new building, temporarily or work from home for a short period, depending on the impact of the works being undertaken.
- Creation of a 'Touch Down Zone' to enable the trial of this space for Academic staff and students that will include bookable workpoints, and preparation and consultation spaces.
- Backlog maintenance, carbon reduction works and building ventilation upgrades.
- New space for the Disability Resource Centre (DRC) and Peer Support Services (PSS), improving wayfinding, accessibility and service to students.
Ongoing impacts:
- Out of hours access - Contractors may be onsite out of hours between 5pm and 2am, therefore access to the building may be restricted. If you require access to the building out of hours, please contact Cynthia Tam.
- South-East stairwell closed - This staircase will not be accessible throughout the duration of this project as it will be allocated for contractor-use only.
