Contact hours will vary based on experience. All offerings will comprise of WIL experience related contact (approximately 80-160 hours) plus approximately 20-40 hours for individual reflection and assessment. Some experiences may require additional compulsory orientation events.

Contact hours will vary based on experience. All offerings will comprise of WIL experience related contact (approximately 80-160 hours) plus approximately 20-40 hours for individual reflection and assessment.  

Approved placements may extend to 240 hours maximum. 

Students must attend and participate in experience-based activities on the scheduled days, as outlined in their agreement/experience outline.All students are  required to complete specific WIL pre-placement modules (approximately 2 hours) prior to commencing their first WIL experience.

Content

The unit is designed to allow students to undertake a short-term (80-160 hours) business placement as part of their studies and provides them with an opportunity to explore suitable vocations, gain practical employment experience and develop professional work habits such as teamwork, ethical conduct, effective workplace communication and self-management.

Students will critically reflect upon their experience, relevant graduate attributes and employability competencies through a progressive assessment process.

Assessment 1: (Individual) (Portfolio) Learning Portfolio designed around the WIL experience

A learning portfolio is comprised of a range of different assessment tasks. In this unit the portfolio consists of 3 individual assessment tasks, a pre-planning report, your host’s evaluation, and an interview where you will be asked to evidence your achievement of the unit learning outcomes and graduate learning outcomes. Specific task details are available on the unit site. There are no group-based assessment tasks in the unit.

The assessment due weeks provided may change. The Unit Chair will clarify the exact assessment requirements, including the due date, at the start of the teaching period.

Hurdle requirement

Hurdle requirement:

1. Students must successfully complete the WIL pre-placement modules before they can attain access to the unit dropboxes.

2. Achieve at least 50% of the marks available on the portfoliotask that requires reflection on the ULOs to evidence a minimum proficiency.

3. Students must attend all scheduled sessions.

Unit Fee Information
