Content
This unit has 3 modules: Data Law, Privacy Law and Cybercrime
Inquiries into Australia’s digital landscape have highlighted the importance of strong data protections to counter abuses of power, promote competition, and improve social welfare. Many of these reports also focus on the increasing surveillance by ‘big tech’ into people’s lives. This unit provides an introduction to the laws affecting data, privacy and cybercrime and addresses the problems raised by modern practices.
The following topics will be examined: Introduction to Data Law, Consumer Data Right, Data sharing and release laws, Data regulation, Introduction to Privacy Law. Privacy Law principles, Introduction to Cybercrime, Cybercrime regulation, Data Law and Cybercrime – future trends.
