In-person attendance requirements:

Delivery methods – intensive mode, but supported also through Cloud-based resources and activities

Pre-departure fully online module in Cloud (integral to preparation and pre-tour assignment work): 4 hours

Pre departure workshop session (conducted by Study Abroad Office), including preparation: 8 hours

In country: 10 days x 8 hours = 80 hours

Total: approx. 92 hours

Content

This unit focuses of developing students’ understanding of Japanese society and politics. Based at Musashi University in Tokyo, via a program of guest lectures, seminars, workshops and field trips students will both gain insights into Japan’s distinctive culture and be encouraged to utilise these insights to reflect upon their own culturally-embedded understandings and consider how they can enhance their intercultural communication skills and competencies.

Assessment 1 (Individual) - Pre-departure Report (1000 words) - 30%

Assessment 2 (Individual) - Journal (1000 words) -30%

Assessment 3 (Individual) - Final Report (2000 words) - 40%
