Content

In this unit students are asked to reflect on their process with regard to collaboration, notions of collectivist, and abstraction. In negotiation with staff students will be encouraged to make work in collaboration and experimentation with different material affects across a variety of media including painting, drawing, performance, archival and documented research, video, photography and installation. Students will research key themes and debates in contemporary art practice and explore processes, materials and interventionist strategies with an emphasis placed on developing work in a public context. Combining structured studio workshops and seminars with independent and collaborative investigations, the focus on materiality and the everyday allows for abstraction to be interpreted as both form and sensation. Drawing on key readings and critical discussions the journal demonstrates the synthesis of idea and material in the creation of a of series experimental and resolved folio works.
