Over the past six months, we have been reviewing Deakin Card and rethinking the way it operates and services Deakin. Our aim is to be able to respond to advancements in technology, better align with the University’s future needs and support a contemporary campus experience

Following our consideration of the existing functionality, potential risks, and future opportunities within the platform, from January 2022 Deakin Card can no longer be topped up with new funds and from March 31, it will not be available as a form of payment while on campus. This also means it won’t be an option to reward students with Deakin dollar or printing dollar awards.

DeakinCard money is predominantly spent on printing, so at the same time as we implement this change, we are making printing on campus free for students. Students and staff will be able to continue using Deakin Card for purchases on campus until 31 March 2022. With campuses reopening after a tough couple of years, it’s a perfect time to use the money to socialise with others and support our hospitality venues as they get back on their feet.
