Content
This is an intermediate 3D unit that focuses on character design and creation. All the way from initial 2D sketch to a fully animatable character. Students explore creative character design with reference to the principles of design, anatomy, and character appeal. In learning how to create a 3D character, students will acquire industry standard modelling and texturing techniques that will be invaluable across a range of fields, from motion graphics to product design. Students will also explore a number of rigging strategies to enable their characters to be used for animation.
These are the Learning Outcomes (ULO) for this unit At the completion of this unit, successful students can: | ||
ULO1 | Analyse and apply principles of character design, and the techniques of model creation and rigging to create complex 3d characters | GLO1: Discipline-specific knowledge and capabilities GLO5: Problem solving |
ULO2 | Develop and apply verbal and visual strategies to create and evaluate aesthetic, conceptual designs for emotive, appealing characters that fit within a range of animation genres and contexts for a variety of audiences | GLO1: Discipline-specific knowledge and capabilities GLO2: Communication |
ULO3 | Collect, interpret and evaluate information, assets and other research materials for use in individual creative research using Cloud, located and other sources including collaborative and self-directed methods | GLO1: Discipline-specific knowledge and capabilities GLO5: Problem solving |
These Unit Learning Outcomes are applicable for all teaching periods throughout the year
